Palace Size Dark Olive Bloomsburry Persian Oriental Area Rug 12x18 Wool
This Donegal design originated in 1898 when Alexander Mortan & Co. started weaving carpets in Donegal, Ireland. The piece was originally named “The Fintona”; it was displayed at the Grafton Gallery in London during a Liberty’s exhibition in 1903. This carpet was also available in the catalogues of Gustav Stickley. The carpets design artfully depicts giant hemlock boughs, and is a fine example of the Donegal carpets woven during the Arts & Crafts period. The carpet was possibly designed by the Silver Studio in 1902 influenced heavily by William Morris, as well as C.F.A. Voysey.
